Meet The Team

Jim – Founder and Lead Engineer

Jim, founder of JPH Electricals, has a wealth of expertise. He has an ONC in Mechanical and Production Engineering. His background in the automotive industry, focusing on manufacturing equipment rather than cars, gives him a good blend of mechanical, electrical and practical skills. Jim is City and Guilds qualified to the latest edition Electrical Regulations, 2391 Inspection and Testing and Building Regulations and a qualified Solar engineer amongst many other qualifications. Currently studying for his Level 4 Design Qualifications, Jim is also a member of the IET, proudly carrying the TMIET accreditation.

Jim has recently taken up archery with the Overton Black Arrows and he is obsessed with his car that took him 20 years to be able to afford … and really it was due to the sad passing of his Nan that he could afford it! His wife would say that work is his main hobby as it’s pretty much all he does 7 days a week! Jim also aspires to own a Land Rover Defender and says that as soon as he finds one and is without supervision (ie his wife) he’ll buy one! … Somehow … Someday 🙂

Sam – Electrical Engineer

Sam, co-owner, is an invaluable member of the team, known for his exceptional electrical engineering skills and extensive knowledge across various trades. His versatility allows him to deliver innovative and tidy solutions, especially when projects require thinking outside the box. Sam’s work, such as seamlessly installing a car charger by remaking a driveway, showcases his dedication to maintaining the integrity of existing environments.

Sam loves driving his Land Rover … and repairing it. It needs constant repairs (as with many Land Rovers) and is sometimes off the road for 3 months at a time! At least it keeps Sam busy and out of trouble.

Lloyd – Electrician

Lloyd, who started as an apprentice with JPH Electricals in 2016, quickly became a key player in the team and a favourite with clients. His meticulous attention to detail ensures top-quality work on every project. Lloyd excelled in all his training, achieving over 97% in both his 18th Edition and Part P qualifications. His commitment to precision and quality has made him a reliable and skilled electrician.

Lloyd loves to play rugby and has been playing for almost 20 years now. He did a lot of travelling with his family when he was younger and he can – rather impressively – speak four other languages: Japanese, French, Italian and Spanish!

Ian – Electrician

Ian’s background was in the corporate world where he was Global Support Manager for a software company, preceded by a 20 year career in IT after doing a BSc and MSc in Computer Science.

During lockdown he decided it was time for a change and took an intense course to give him the basic skills and qualifications to become an electrician. He says he ‘fell on his feet’ with JPH, joining the team in 2021. He has now completed his Level 3 Inspection and Testing and is already working towards his next qualifications. Ian loves a challenge and the problem-solving side of the job, and the fact that every day is different.

Ian is also a very keen scuba diver and has been diving for over 30 years. He is an instructor, cave diver and rebreather diver and loves to explore reefs and wrecks of the UK and the caves of Mexico and France.

Frayne – Electrician

Frayne joined us in 2023. He completed his apprenticeship training back in 2016, worked at a couple of different companies and then became a self-employed ‘subbie’ with another electrician for a few years before coming to JPH as a full-time employee.

Frayne says his favourite sort of jobs are terminating consumer units, second fix wiring and cable management, and that working at JPH has given him confidence in getting a job done and in the most efficient way possible. He also enjoys the problem-solving aspect, and being part of a team.

Frayne loves skateboarding (which he does here in the UK) and snowboarding (a factor when it comes to choosing holidays)! He also loves to explore, to go to different places and experience different environments.

Tom – Electrician

Tom was the ‘New Kid on the Block’ when he joined us in early 2024 (April), having just left college after studying for his T Level qualification in Electrical Installation and working with some electricians on the days he wasn’t at college. He particularly likes working on solar projects as it’s an area that really interests him and a growing market.

Tom says he loves coming to work every day and working with a fabulous team. He is quite proud of the fact that he has been working his whole adult life but has never had to write a CV! His skills and personable attitude speak for themselves.

Brodie – Apprentice Electrician

Brodie joined the team in 2024. He was doing customer service before but had a keen interest in electrics after being an electrician’s labourer and from there he always wanted to be an electrician … and now he’s going to be one!

He says he enjoys a lot of jobs, from fault finding and resolving to different sorts of installs. He likes the work ethic at JPH, but also the banter and laughs: “We work hard but enjoy the job.”

Brodie has a couple of claims to fame. He’s met 2 famous football players and had a long chat with one of them, and he also got onto American TV when there was American Football being played at Wembley. Don’t forget your friends at JPH if you become rich and famous, Brodie!
